Layered Rugs -- A Trend That Has Staying Power

Layering rugs has been a trend that we have been seeing for a few years now and it looks like it might stick. Layering a smaller area rug over a carpet or larger rug is still being seen in the in latest catalogs and magazines and many of our designers have been creating this look with their design projects, too.

If done right, this layered rug trend can give warmth and a new dimension to the space. Here are some ideas on how to carry out this cool trend:

Silk Blend Carpets are Trending in 2013

We are feeling a little Romantic this week at Williston considering Valentine’s Day is tomorrow. I bet you are asking, “What is Romantic about Flooring?” Surprisingly, you can find a lot of things that are romantic about carpeting; its color, its texture and richness. Ok, maybe it’s not so romantic, but it can definitely add some romance to the ambiance of your décor.

Think BIG about Geometric Patterns in Carpet

Now that Susan and Mitch are back from the flooring industry event “ Surfaces”, we can talk about some of the fun flooring trends they saw while they were there.

One of the biggest trends they saw was BIG bold patterns for carpet. And to get even more specific, most of the designs are large geometric patterns. These patterns were shown in both bold colors and in more neutral tone on tones.

2013 Flooring Color Trends to Consider for Your Next Design Project

Since the Flooring Industries' biggest trade show, Surfaces, is taking place this week, I thought I would talk about the latest trends in design and flooring for the next month.

Today, I wanted to talk about color and what we will be seeing more of this year. If you look at Pantone and Benjamin Moore colors of the 2013 year, the color trend from both seems to be a bit more subdued than in years past.

Why a Designer Should Consider Using Wool Rugs in their Projects

Wool rugs have many benefits for both the designer and their clients. Here are some of the advantages that you could talk to your client about.

  • Large selection: There is a large selection of color, texture and designs. You will easily be able to find something to make your project look amazing.
  • Shape retention: Wool has a natural elasticity that allows the fibers to stretch 40% beyond its original length and then return back to its original size. This makes wool a perfect selection for heavy traffic areas. It also resists furniture crush.

How to get Mold and Mildew out of Carpet

How to get Mold and Mildew out of Carpet

With all the rain we had last week and the forecast for rain today we thought we would talk about water damage to your carpet. When carpet, especially the padding, has been exposed to water, the situation needs immediate response to avoid mold and mildew build-up and staining.

Follow the below steps and you might be able to avoid the expense of carpet replacement.
